Dear reader,

The past year marks the final year of the SOS-ZEROPOL2030 project, a year packed with meaningful deliverables contributing to the EU Zero Pollution ambition.

We started in November with the Zero Pollution Parliament – Living Lab workshop where we brought together experts, policymakers, researchers and civil society from across Europe for a 2-day Living Lab during the Zero Pollution Parliament in Brussels, where we focused on co-creating actionable pathways to achieve the EU’s Zero Pollution vision across European seas. Valuable insights are shared in our Zero Pollution Parliament report, found in this newsletter.

We published multiple reports, from Understanding Public and Stakeholder Risk Perceptions of Pollution in Europe, to a comprehensive set of deliverables for strengthening the scientific basis for Zero Pollution Pathways and recommendations to curb Marine Pollution in European Seas through a strategic framework outlining practical objectives, targets and actions to help achieve zero pollution. Besides informing policy makers, we engaged with stakeholders and the wider general public through engaging communication products, such as a comic on the societal impacts of Tyre-Wear Particle pollution. The Zero Pollution Online Hub went live, as a digital gateway to support knowledge sharing, capacity building, and action towards zero pollution.

The impact of the SOS-ZEROPOL2030 will live on beyond the closure of the project. Follow-up projects are being developed, and a number of papers are still under review. Project resources will remain on our project website for the coming two years, and all deliverables will remain accessible through IMIS (VLIZ), and CORDIS.
