D5.5 Roadmap Interactive Tool
Towards Zero Pollution in European Seas
A stakeholder-centred implementation journey turning policy ambition into coordinated action.
The SOS-ZEROPOL2030 Roadmap translates Europe’s zero pollution ambition and targets into a structured, actionable pathway. It connects strategic environmental goals with concrete measures, clearly assigned responsibilities, and time-bound implementation steps.
Designed as an interactive knowledge and planning tool, the roadmap supports decision-making, coordination, and transparency across all governance levels and sectors.
Why this Matters
The SOS-ZEROPOL2030 Roadmap is designed to bridge the gap between policy ambition and real-world implementation.
It provides:
- Clear assignment of responsibilities across stakeholders
- A shared structure for coordinated environmental action
- Improved transparency in decision-making
- A practical tool for sequencing and prioritising interventions
- A common language for policy, science, and practice
How the Roadmap Was Developed
The SOS-ZEROPOL2030 Roadmap is grounded in a collaborative and science-based development process that connects policy, research, governance, and stakeholder expertise into a shared implementation framework for achieving zero pollution in European seas.
The roadmap builds upon the broader Strategic Zero Pollution Framework, developed through a co-design process integrating the knowledge, tools, and outputs generated across the SOS-ZEROPOL2030 project. At the heart of this process is continuous multi-stakeholder engagement, ensuring that the framework reflects both scientific evidence and practical implementation realities.
